It was probably an R-9 that missed getting the BMT route signs installed when it was transferred off the IND. Unlike the R-16 through 38s which had the route letters installed in the destination sign box, the R-9s had the BMT route sighs installed in the original route sign boxes and the destination signs turned to blank. Whenever I worked the 14 St Line as a V/R M/M I would turn the destination box to read “Rockaway Park” which was a pretty close match to the side sign readings of “Rockaway Parkway." |
