Yeah the off peak hours train announcements for LIRR at Penn never made sense to me. They could easily announce trains 20 minutes in advance during the off-peak hours, but I've never seen them do that. My theory is that it's along the lines of why Metro-North runs trains into the GCT lower level on the weekends: for concessions purposes. Meaning, for passengers who arrive 20 minutes before their train leaves, they'll be more likely to spend money at a concession stand/ store since they won't be able to board their train. |
