The reason "A of A" didn't catch on is because it's unwieldy.I agree. I prefer not to use it except when I feel that not using it could cost me time or aggravation. I wish New Yorkers would use 4th Ave. And with all due respect for Messrs. Douglass, Powell, etc., and even Columbus, I wish that numbered avenues were still more in vogue north of 59th Street and especially 110th Street. I never liked Lenox Ave. either, despite the undoubted importance of the Astor, Lenox and Tilden Foundations. |
