I'm not sure the exact financials behind it, but I believe the planes and operating costs are not subsidized, but the airlines receive large subsidies through the ground facilities, i.e. airports and terminals that the government funds and airlines get to use relatively cheaply. Of course there are tax subsidies for many large businesses, and many of them just got larger the other day. |
