Decades ago I worked in bookstores in Manhattan where daytime customers were slim but it gave us time to receive and display the books. Typically the evening shift did double the sales of the day shift. That was, however, in the 60s when bookstores stayed open 'til 1 or 2 AM.In the 66 case I commuted home on the subway often stopping for mail at my PO Box at the Farley. SRO on late night A trains to W4th, then a lkong wait for a nearly empty D. |
