Posted by IRTRedbirdR33 on Sun Dec 17 07:38:57 2017 Tuscarora Almanac – December 17, 1950 – The Book of Last Runs Edgewater, New Jersey Electric Ferries Service comes to an end on the “Edgewater Ferry” which ran between Edgewater, New Jersey and West 125th Street, Manhattan. The final run was made by the PALISADES. She was built in 1926 as one of the original “electric ferries” as the GRENVILLE KANE. She went south to Virginia in the early fifties but returned to New York in 1959 to run on the ferries to North Brother’s and Rikers Island. She was retired in 1967. The Edgewater Ferry had been run by the Riverside and Fort Lee Ferry Company from 1888 to 1943 when it was taken over by Electric Ferries.
