Re: [PHOTOS] The D-Type ''Triplex'' Original Look

The problem with the chain driven signs probably took place long after unification when the TA made the decision to get rid of them. Some of the Multi units had their mechanical signs replaced by metal plate signs probably removed from scrapped BUs. As for the Multis not stopping, I find those urban folklore stories hard to believe no matter what the source for two reasons. One is if that were the case, the TA’s legal Dept would probably have ordered their removal immediately. The second is that if the brakes were applied in emergency with the master controller off and the control cut out switch turned off removing all power from the motors, the train should not have been able to move. If such an incident took place at all it was probably due to its having been operated by a new M/M who got flustered and didn’t take the necessary steps to stop the train.
