I had the experience of trying to book sleeping accommodations to Chicago on PRR. IIRC, called Pennsylvania 6-2000.Net only was the agent difficult in answering my questions bur he finally said "Why don't you take the bus?" and hung up. Often took the train between Trenton and Penn when I was at Ft. Dix. More than one conductor gave me (and others) a hard time getting our military fare if we weren't in uniform. It wasn't the era when you wore military clothing off-duty if you didn't have to. |
