Early white LED lights did have very long battery lives, since those LEDs by nature couldn't put out much light without overdriving them and thus severely shortening their lifespans. Once stronger LEDs came out and LED lights became commoditized, brightness became the advertising pitch, esp. if they wanted to compete against incandescents. What you need to look for are lights with multiple "brightness modes" or some such, because they would typically advertise a "very bright" mode but also have a lower light, long-lasting mode. However, you may have to pay quite a bit more than your standard, off-the-shelf light from the store.
