No -The festival was called "Woodstock" and for the Ulster County location, but they knew the locals would never approve it there. They then planned it for the Town of Wallkill (not far from the present day station) After the promoters made posters, tickets, started building the stage the town decided to essentially ban the thing, by enacting strict public assembly laws and such....four days before it was supposed to start! If the same 3/400,000 people had shown up at Wallkll, it would have a REAL disaster.. original Wallkill poster |
