Regarding the introduction of Standards for service on the Astoria Line on 17 October, 1949:
Wouldn't this be about the time that R1/9s also began to be used for No. 2 4th Av. Local service and D types began to be regularly used for No. 1 Brighton Express service?


That would be correct. 100 R-1's were transferred from the IND to the BMT to provide additional equipment for the extension to Astoria. D-Types were placed in service on the No.1 Brighton Express on September 24, 1949 sharing duties with the Standards until 1959.
