I would have assumed, I guess incorrectly, that this would also be the practice at NYCTA, and anywhere in the civilized world. Heck, simply for liability issues, I'm amazed that NYCTA and/or NYPD will ever remove a body from where death occurred. I can see that this might have happened in the old, Pre-Quincy days. In these litigious times? OMGAs for the effect on employee morale, that's also pretty bad. I wouldn't be too happy if my employer (also a NYS agency) was storing stiffs in the print shop, break room, bathroom, copy room, my cubicle if I'm off that day, etc. I guess I'm lucky that, to my knowledge, no one's ever died on premises. I have a lot of unhealthy co-workers, so I can think of several instances where people did not come back from 3-day weekends or from vacation. But they were not on-site! |
