As for the IRT Division,there is nothing much that can be done as far as equipment unless the MTA wants to spend money to have the R-62s/62As retrofitted with electronic signs. The BMT/IND on the other hand has a substantial fleet of R-46s which although older, were GOHed to provide electronic side signs, New OB drawheads compatible with the NTTs for towing/pushing purposes when necessary. While older, the R-46s are actually more state of the art than the R-68s and 68As which could mean that like the situation with the R-32s, the 46s might be around longer than the later non NTT cars. |
