While a fully automated system may be ultimately desirable, due to the nature of the NYCTS infrastructure itself, At least one employee should be on board every train in the event of an emergency where the immediate presence of a qualified employee is necessary. BART is fully automated, but an employee functioning more as an “attendant” than an actual operator is on every train. |
