Except that non-rush hour ridership was light, between 57th St-129th St.
The section from Queensboro Plaza to Chatham Square was kept open mainly for the 1939 World's Fair. When that closed on 10/27/40, ridership on the remaining section began a decline. After May 19th, 1941, all Sunday and daily services, from 9:30PM-12:30AM, were eliminated. At that time, the ridership just wasn't there.
