In rush hours, locals are pretty slow because they have quite a high dwell time, and an express really saves a LOT of time.Dwell times are one of the things that are lengthening trip times on WMATA today. I have boarded trains when crowds on the platforms were reasonably high and the train stood at the platform 10 to 15 seconds after everybody boarded before closing doors and proceeding to the next station.
