...the first segment of the DC Metrorail opened. The initial segment had 5 stations along 4.2 miles of track. Today, the system has nearly 120 miles of track serving 91 stations.

I was there and have the pictures I took to prove it.

And at the time it was said the trains when nowhere mighty damm fast.
