Someone here once posted a nice idea for a 5th ave commuter RR tunnel. It would combine NJT and MNRR/LIRR trains from GCT and send them south to lower Manhattan, with a stop at 14st along the way. By adding stops and spreading out the people, NYP can suddenly handle more trains while simultaneously having less people milling about.Of course NY completely lacks vision, things cost way too much to build, and the project would be seen as benefiting NJ, so it would never be built. Still, it's a nice what-if. |
