i ain't jumping into this...and i'm not saying it maliciously...but here's one totally unavoidable truth: if the land wasn't taken, we wouldn't be around to bitch about the land being taken.

Only in the butterfly-effect sense that making massive-scale changes hundreds of years ago would change the course of history to the point where no one currently alive would ever have been born. We are, after all, the product of so many contingencies.

Hell, if you'd convinced every single person who had sex in the 1680s to do so in a slightly different manner (say, starting 3 seconds later), then we wouldn't be around.

only way around it is...we kill ourseves or, if we have a house, go out west, find us some injun family somewhere and give it to them.

Why them? It wasn't their personal land that was taken.

Better option: We pay reparations for the atrocities that still-living people have suffered, we commit to not being dicks in the future by, say, poisoning their water for the benefit of a few billionaire oil barons, and we have the schools teach real American history, not the sanitised version that skips all the genocide.

And maybe arrest the people responsible for the "boarding schools." That was a form of genocide that didn't end until the late 90s, so some of the people who committed it are still alive.

or we can just...live with it.

It's easy to live with it when you're not the one being killed by it.
