I always wondered why it was never called Myrtle-Nassau Line or Express.

The Myrtle-Chambers Street Line began running in 1914. At that time there was no Nassau Street Line. The line between Essex Street and Chambers Street was known as the Centre Street Line.

The Nassau Street Line itself did not open until 1931 but the Southern Division trains did not venture north of Chambers Street in revenue service.

It must have been in the early 60's when the TA decided to refer to the entire line between Essex Street and Chambers Street as the Nassau Street Line. This is borne out by the rollsigns on the R-27.
