The streamlined articulated units know as "The Electroliners" begin service today on the North Shore Interurban Line between Chicago and Milwaukee.

Green Hornet 7003 is withdrawn from service on the No. 7 Franklin Avenue Shuttle. This is the last time that she will operate in revenue service. She will be scrapped in 1942 and her aluminum carbody will be used in the war effort.

Tuscarora Journal - February 6, 1951 - The Book of Wrecks

Pennsylvania Railroad train No 733, "The Broker" derailed while crossing a temporary trestle in Woodbridge, New Jersey. The train consisted of K-4 steam engine No 2445 and eleven coaches. The engine, tender and eight coaches left the tracks and some fell down the embankment to the street below. 84 passengers were killed and over 300 injured.

Broadway – 7th Avenue Line

The “West Side Changeover” is put into effect eliminating crossover switching north of 96th Street which lead to many delays. Hereafter No.1 trains will run between 242nd Street-Broadway and South Ferry at all times as locals. No. 2 and 3 trains will operate express providing service to Brooklyn. A “new” Broadway Thru-Express” begins operation on Monday, February 9, 1959. It will run during the rush hours in the direction of traffic bypassing 191st Street, 181st Street, 157th Street and 145th Street and then making all local stops. Northbound service during the PM rush was discontinued after the first day.
