Yeah, I knew, from the first night that the news went public here. I got a call from a well meaning friend to let me know the "news". It's hard to gauge what your reaction will be until something like this happens. Yeah, Kevin and I didn't like each other much. Seemingly from the start we were opposite poles. Then again, how well did we actually know each other? We did have moments of light when we'd discuss technical issues but the social issues and political stuff was always there to keep the fires burning.

Being a little older than Kevin and having some health issues of my own, I didn't seriously expect to be here in this position now. I always pictured him as a robust man despite what I always envisioned was a very sedentary but content lifestyle. I suppose you just never know about these things.

I've not given this a lot of thought over the past week but I have given it some as to what to say. There were several issues between Kevin and myself that probably would have kept the fires burning for years to come, had he still been here. But yet, now they seem a bit trite in comparison to the magnitude of the loss to his family and friends here and in real life. So all I can say now is that I hope that in the end, he passed quietly and painlessly and has eternal rest in peace.
