Can Brooklyn IRT handle the capacity with solely two services? Back in August when there were no 2 or 3 trains in Brooklyn I believe a similar scenario took place ; trains terminated at 14th (per announcements) but ended at Rector? When I took the 4 on a round-trip ridership seemed light for what I expected. Those 70,000 customers traveling through the tube is transfering to the R viable being it was extended to Whitehall? So from my understanding: 1 & 7 get service increases. 2 & 5 swap North end terminals. 2 & 3 cut back to 14th and South Ferry respectively. Is capacity really limited due to the amount of signal blocks and speed limits or is it lack of train sets and increased dwell times thus increasing running time? |
