What about the steady stream of trucks coming in over the VerrazanoIIRC, larger and heavier tractors are limited to the Cross Bronx -> Clearview -> LIE routing to Long Island, or Cross Bronx -> Bruckner -> New England Thruway routing. I suspect that things would have been a bit easier for stuff going to New England had a crossing been built to connect to what's now the Cross County Parkway (along with appropriate connections), or had the New Jersey Turnpike extension to Nyack been built... |
