Not necessarily all timers but only the unnecessary ones and speed up the ones a bit that are needed. Once when riding the F between Prosp Pk and ft Hamilton, I observed the train’s speedometer. Although those timers were posted at 35 MPH, the timers were clearing perfectly at 28 MPH. When some of the planners from Chicago come in in the 1980s, there was supposed to have been a committee formed to assess the location of all GT signals, remove the ones that weren’t needed and adjust the ones that remained. The actual concept was that the signals would clear about 3 MPH ABOVE the posted limits which would still allow trains to proceed at the allowable speed without having to overslow for the signals to clear and to avoid bing tripped. Instead of the intended result, it seemed that more GT signals and wheel detectors were installed in places they never were before and weren’t needed and all the GT signals were slowed down even worse than before.
