I remember this- though I only learned of it the following Monday. But thinking back, this really was a turning point- a bad one- in subway history. Although there were problems leading up to this date, this event in my mind marks the beginning of serious crisis in the system.I remember that outdated 1972 (and a few 1974) Vignelli maps as well as the service notice of the cuts remained posted in the cars for about another year. |
