The Acela locos are derivatives of the TGV.They're supposedly based on a paper design that Alstom had for an equivalent of the DB Class 101 for SNCF. Since SNCF had no need for such a locomotive, the project went nowhere until Alstom decided to join this project. If anything, they're just uprated Astride units... |
