The lack of express trackage is why they must single track on terrible schedules for a lot of weekend maintenance. Now that Orange, Blue, and Silver are sharing, they have decided that cutting all three lines to every 16 minutes (still stubbornly keeping to 6 car trains) when single tracking needs to happen is preferable to running perhaps just the Orange Line and shuttles for Largo, Reston, and Franconia-Springfield to meet those shuttles. While there's no difference to the frequency in the shared trackage either way, using shuttles would greatly improve the experience for people who specifically need the Blue or Silver lines... |
