What percentage of the time is there another train in the block to capture the energy? (Clearly, these are not the same "blocks" use in signalling, where there must never be two trains in the same block.)Could some kind of storage system be installed wayside for each power block, to capture the energy when there is no other train there? Maybe those flywheels would be more successful if they were not mounted on moving trains? |
