What would this accomplish? As pointed out by The Silence, the original plan was for Blue to Huntington and Yellow to Franconia. However, in order to open the line to Huntington with a car shortage, the Yellow Line got sent there instead. The plan was to swap the lines back when Van Dorn Street opened but that never happened. Now, half of the trains leaving Franconia operate as Yellow line trains to Greenbelt in order to accommodate the Silver Line at Rosslyn, so it is a bit of a moot point. However, Fort Totten cannot accommodate turnbacks easily (there is no pocket track there, just a crossover at B&E Junction) and Branch Avenue is the busier side of the Green Line (though ridership has increased at Columbia Heights and Petworth over the years).
