How many cars is a "modest-sized train", and what empty weight?

The Alco DL-109 and earlier E-units were geared for 120 mph; three-unit combos had more than 4400 horses, and with under-car generators on older rolling stock, the locomotives didn't have to sacrifice any horses for HEP.

Also, the AEM-7s ran at 125 mph for many years and are less aerodynamic than these Chargers.
