Posted by PeterBee on Fri Jun 17 13:49:07 2016 I realise that this won't be within anyone's living memory, but just wondered whether one might know anything about it.In the 1930s, The Franklin's Savings Bank published a fold-up pocket map of the IND 8th Avenue Subway. I've found that the map (or, at least, the 1937 edition) was designed by Arthur Weindorf, who was Rapid Transit Construction Commissioner at the Board of Transportation, which of course ran the IND. So, I was wondering whether the IND ever issued the Franklin's Bank map at change booths, as if it were an official map, because AFAIK they never published a pocket map of their own. (The TA later did a similar thing with the Union Dime subway map from 1954.) |
