It was also comparing the 1963 and 1967 ones that I figured out about the Chrystie St. connection- remember, I wasn't old enough to remember it (mom was 3 months pregnant with me on 11/26/67), and there was no internet to look it up on.But I could see the appearance of the Grand Street station, and when looking at my 1972 maps, the appearance of 57th/6th and 148/Lenox as well. Interestingly, I did NOT notice the Nassau Loop service that existed. Until I read about it online, I assumed that the Broadway BMT always ran on the south side of the Manny B and that the north side tracks had sat unused from the time the bridge was built until sometime in the 1960s. |
