Astor Pl. and Stuyvesant St. were part of the same road, and there was a cemetery about where Washington Square park is now. In addition, a skewed building still exists between E. 12th and E. 13th Sts. just east of 1st Av. The road continued all the way to the river across what is now Stuyvesant Town.
