"Is there a huge demand for this bike trail that will evict CMRR?" The trail supports say there is, and that it outweighs any economic benefit that the railroad may potentially have. I don't see how that can be true after seeing the Thomas and Polar crowds spilling into nearby businesses before and after their scheduled trips."Were people protesting and pressuring the Ulster County wags for this trail?" It seems the trail supporters have been well organized, very vocal, and have swayed key politicians to their side. Though railroad supporters have jammed the county legislature chamber to overflowing for certain key votes, very little headway was made against the trail-only point of view. Now that the days of a contiguous railroad through the county are counting down to the 31st of this month, there is some pressure coming from new fronts to help save the railroad. The next 28 days will be very interesting for CMRR. |
