I had heard that work is supposed to take several more years, meaning it likely will be still going when the (L) is shut down.Even without that, this split into the (M) and (T) is something as noted I would actually debut when the (M) resumes running its full route sometime in 2018, well ahead of the (L) shutdown. The additional (T) trains to 96th/2nd would mean a total of 20-21 TPH there at peak hours (since the (T) would be a max of 6-7 TPH even at peak hours) and would give (M) riders full-time 6th Avenue service since the (T) would be a 24/7 line that would eliminate the need for the late-night and weekend (M) shuttles. |
