Doesn't make it redundant. Subway stops are much farther apart than LRT stops. A half mile in NYC often mean another neighborhood entirely.

Ronan used the excuse the Myrtle Av el was redundant with the GG. But nobody who used the Myrtle Ave el moved to the GG. The market vanished, the neighborhood's death accelerated, the replacement bus did nothing.
