There is such a thing as signage. It's used around the world. Like more ordinary systems that close overnight.

Not sure why MTA doesn't use signage for existing part time routes (other than to say "eves" "wknds" "nights" and other inexact words or abbreviations that tell nobody when the first and last trains are).
