The problem with the subway setup is that it's Manhattan-centric. There is an exponential need for inter-borough rail service between Brooklyn and Queens, and between Queens and The Bronx. Examples of meeting this need: De Blasio's proposal; converting the Montauk/Rockaway Beach lines to light rail; or many more possibilities. |
