Biggest problem was the 5 car platforms south of 96th Street at the local stations. Broadway Express trains to/from 242nd St. could only run on express tracks south of 96th, and had to be switched. 7th Ave. Locals to/from 145/Lenox also had to be switched N of 96th because these trains (today's #3 but local S of 96) provided the 24/7 local service south of 96th Street. Broadway Locals between 137 and S Ferry did not run nights and Sundays. |
