How many feet does it take to stop a train going 10 mph, in this case if the T/O saw the other train in front of him at the last minute or so?During typical automatic operation, trains enter stations at no greater then 45 MPH, an 8 car will decelerate over a distance of 600' using a brake applications under B4 to bring the train to a stop at the end of the platform. Controller handle in B5, probably something under 75', emergency brake application less the that. John in the sand box of Maryland's eastern shore. |
