I doubt there is anything secret about the schedule for the holiday nostalgia train.On the other hand, the advance information about the recent Billy Strayhorn special may have been something the TA preferred not to make public. One press release claimed they were not releasing information about where and when the train would run due to concerns about possible overcrowding. But neither the train nor the platforms at 145th St. were actually overcrowded. Probably, they didn't mind having the information released to a niche audience like that of SubChat. 145th St. was a good choice for where to start (and end) that train for two reasons: (1) the double-width uptown platform on the lower level helps avoid overcrowding; that is where the band played before boarding the train. And (2) 145th St. is probably the station that Mr. Strayhorn had in mind as the destination to take the A train to; that is where "Sugar Hill" begins, according to Wikipedia. |
