Wow!

I didn't realize that remembering only 25 telephone exchanges means I am not intelligent. I will have to remember that.

But you got me curious so I did google former telephone exchanges in NYC and was astonished to find hundreds of telephone exchnanges some of which I remembered when I saw them. But even more astonishing was that I never heard of over half the exchanges listed.

But guess what? I remembered one that was omitted from the list. So does that make me intelligent or not according to your standards of intelligence?

Now before you accuse me of "remembering" an exchange that only existed in my dreams, and knowing that just because something is on the internet, does not make it correct and noticing you could submit corrections, I wrote to the guy who developed the webpage to inform him of my discovery.

Lo and behold he answers me the same day and confirms I am correct that I spotted an omission. He went back to his source documents and discovered the exchange was not in his 1960 phone directory but did appear in his 1961 directory, the year it was created.

He also said he won't update the webpage to make only a single addition.

The exchange is RN and ths is his website.
