Posted by kp5308 on Mon Nov 30 12:04:43 2015 Since Kevin & I didn't know what traffic would be like between Blandon & Folcroft PA on Sunday we left at 7AM in the rain. First stop was Stowe where an oil train for Eddystone was parked. There is a roughly 3 hour window in the early AM for oil trains to use the SEPTA Airport Line to access the oil facility & Stowe is one of the places where the can trains sit:We sailed down 422 & the upper end of the Schuylkill Expressway so we made a stop at Matsonford at 8:30 & shot the Rt. 100. Still raining: Down the Blue Route to Eddystone where we catch an NS transfer crossing Jansen Ave: The main objective at Eddystone was to check out the oil terminal so we parked off PA 291 & took our shots. No one came after us. The rain is verrrry light: Since it is only 9:10 we check out Crum Lynne to see if any work has started on the station upgrade. None to speak of but a nice sign hangs inside the southbound shelter: At 9:37 an expanded northbound Silver Meteor passes: We get to Folcroft at 10AM & leave around 3: We nab a wrapped trolley on the 102 at Providence Rd. & Clifton Ave. in Aldan: Chance upon this along Baltimore Pike in Springfield: If traffic is good we might be able to make something work at Abrams Yard before we lose all lighting. Worth a try: I drop KC off at 5:30PM & hear an eastbound coming just as I'm ready to turn onto our street so I drag out the tripod & try a night shot that I've considered since moving here. I'll need several tries at it till I get a really good exposure but it is possible: Next Sunday CNJ 0-6-0 #113 runs 3 Santa Claus trips. Very easy to chase so come on out! |
