People from L.I. city and Greenpoint, would have had to ride only a few stops north or south, then change to a city bound train at S. 4th St.* for a short ride into lower Manhattan; at the first city stop, they could have transferred to a 2nd ave. exp. or local train, north or south.

*if such easy accessibility to a city-bound transfer station had been the case, the "GG" might have become more patronized over the years, and, as a result, received better service than it does now.

Most importantly, southeastern Queens would have gotten direct transit access to either the Queens Boulevard line, or (direct or by transfer) to the Fulton St. IND.
