Amtrak does pretty well with just 2 tracks sharing with hourly (or better) Metro North service on the upper Hudson line... really the biggest benefit/need would be a second track in the two single track areas, so that a train waiting for clearance onto the Hudson line or into Penn Station isn't blocking a train trying to leave Penn / the Hudson Line... |
