Fred.... The problem wiith the Sea Beach line is that the original construction plans called for the use of cut and cover construction methods. After they cut an 80 foot deep trench through the right of way, the BMT ran out of money and was unable to put a cover over the trench, which would have kept the stations in pristine condition.

My proposal is to elevate the entire right of way about 100 feet within its current foot print, which would protect the line from future storms. If we start construction tomorrow, we could have the entire line elevated way before Brooklyn becomes permanently submerged in saltwater.
