I worked for Western Union for a short while on Hudson Street downtown where the big in and out stuff happened. Huge bins of tape that came out, and even bigger bins of tape full of what came in waiting to be latched down to a transmitter outbound. That paper tape was coated with oil, good thing we didn't smoke. :) |
