That is correct. 1969 was the first year for divisional play in MLB. Of course everyone who was around then knows that the Mets won the World Series that year the last game being won at Shea on 10/16/69 which was a Thursday. I rode a 7 local train past the stadium long after the game ended and the conductor got a big cheer from everyone on the train for announcing Willets Point - Shea Stadium as the home of the world champion Mets. |
