(1) The United States' entry into World War I in 1917 and post-war inflation eating into the 5 cent fare; (2) The bankruptcy of the BRT after Malbone Street in 1918; (3) The rise of Red Mike Hyland and his plan to build the IND into Jamaica, which he did. (4) The Dual Contracts extension of the Jamaica line to 168th Street in Jamaica. |
